Summary

A sophisticated, page-turning double love story spanning forty years-an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times。

It is 1960。 When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is。 She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband。

Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives。 She becomes obsessed by the story and hopeful that it can resurrect her faltering career。 Perhaps if these lovers had a happy ending she will find one to her own complicated love life, too。 Ellie's search will rewrite history and help her see the truth about her own modern romance。

A spellbinding, intoxicating love story with a knockout ending, The Last Letter from Your Lover will appeal to the readers who have made One Day and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society bestsellers。

I found myself hating everything about her! What an absolutely amazing book。 From beginning to end I was hooked。I was convinced I knew what they ending was going to be but that changed so many times when something happened that meant what I thought definitely couldn't be right so I had to think of another way。I love the way it's written and the letters between each chapter they're a great addition。Jennifer is definitely my favourite character, despite what she's been through and what she's missed out on in her life。 Wonderful book。I was s What an absolutely amazing book。 From beginning to end I was hooked。I was convinced I knew what they ending was going to be but that changed so many times when something happened that meant what I thought definitely couldn't be right so I had to think of another way。I love the way it's written and the letters between each chapter they're a great addition。Jennifer is definitely my favourite character, despite what she's been through and what she's missed out on in her life。 Wonderful book。I was sadly disappointed with the last page when you find out what Ellie does。 I don't want to give it away so you'll have to read it to find out。 This doesn't detract from how good the book was I just expecting something else to happen。 。。。more

Jojo Moyes set a new benchmark in storytelling with The Giver of Stars。 The Last Letter is not up to that benchmark。 The romance is engaging, however the plot is predictable。 The main character has interesting protagonist/antagonist characteristics。

A very cute 1960s / modern-day romance。 I loved the characters, I loved both love stories, and I loved the twist at the end。 I really just wish Ellie’s relationships had as much depth as Jennifer and Anthony’s。 Overall, I gave it 3。5 stars, rounded up。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 En esta historia comprendemos la importancia de hacer frente a nuestros errores y aprender a vivir con ellos。 De igual forma nos traslada a hace unas décadas en donde el amor se vivía de forma diferente。 Aunque por momentos nos invita a reflexionar acerca de que si un amor no se da en un momento preciso es tal vez porque tiene que madurar para poder vivirlo a total plenitud。

I listened to this audio since all I do is drive anymore…I would give the story 3 1/2 stars and the narrator 5 stars。 Her voice was lovely and I was sad to move on to another book with a different voice。

Another very enjoyable novel from Jojo Moyes, this romance has star-crossed lovers, amnesia, the trials of high society and of journalism--and a parallel structure of two stories separated by 40 years。 In the early 1960's, Anthony is a journalist who falls in love with Jennifer, a woman married to a wealthy business tycoon (whose asbestos business is about to bring a reckoning)。 Through a series of passionate letters, we see how often they just miss each other in connecting their lives。 Forty ye Another very enjoyable novel from Jojo Moyes, this romance has star-crossed lovers, amnesia, the trials of high society and of journalism--and a parallel structure of two stories separated by 40 years。 In the early 1960's, Anthony is a journalist who falls in love with Jennifer, a woman married to a wealthy business tycoon (whose asbestos business is about to bring a reckoning)。 Through a series of passionate letters, we see how often they just miss each other in connecting their lives。 Forty years later, Ellie, a young journalist is having an affair with a married man; she discovers the letters and begins to wonder about the source and longevity of true love。 The two romances are interwoven as each is developed to a satisfying conclusion。 Much of the plot structure is familiar territory for Moyes, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable。 Moyes also points out how the expectations and roles for women have changed in those years。 Ah, but passion has not! 。。。more

Wonderful book, but as always, the movie did it no justice。

This book was my favorite I read during 2020。 It really captures feelings well。 A couple of the quotes/lines really spoke to me。 I loved every minute。 Made my heart happy at the end。

this is a beautiful love story, and i’m so glad i have it a chance。 i admit, it took me awhile to really get into this one, but once i did, i was hooked。 & i’m a sucker for happy endings ;)** i can’t wait to watch the netflix movie based on this novel now!

I would give this book a 3。5 very close to 4 stars。 I think what changed it from 4 to 3。5 was how I felt at the end。 It’s not that I didn’t care for Ellie and Rory but I just felt more connected to the story of Jennifer and Anthony, therefore I wished it would have ended on them and not on Ellie。 Ellie and Rory were too sudden for me, I was very into it when the story was on Jennifer and Anthony but then it lost me with Ellie。 I overall love the character development and even with Ellie’s charac I would give this book a 3。5 very close to 4 stars。 I think what changed it from 4 to 3。5 was how I felt at the end。 It’s not that I didn’t care for Ellie and Rory but I just felt more connected to the story of Jennifer and Anthony, therefore I wished it would have ended on them and not on Ellie。 Ellie and Rory were too sudden for me, I was very into it when the story was on Jennifer and Anthony but then it lost me with Ellie。 I overall love the character development and even with Ellie’s character who I thought came out of left field and who at times was not relatable。 The surprise of her character in the book could be taken in a way has an interesting twist…to be surprised by the story… I just thought it came too late in the book, somehow I would have maybe liked Ellie’s character to come earlier in the story。 Maybe more of a then and now throughout the book。。 I don’t know。。 it just didn’t do it for me at the end。 Overall it was a sweet love story and it really kept my attention throughout it all。 Some parts more predictable than others but also some surprises along the way。 A close 4 star review。 。。。more

I did not love this book。 It didn’t hold my attention。 In fact I had to start this book twice。 Halfway through it picked up when the present day story line was added in。 But it wasn’t enough。

A very interesting book once you get past the first few chapters。 I thought at first I wasn’t going to like it but soon found I couldn't put it down。 I, too, found the introduction of Ellie a little bit of a shock in the middle of Jennifer's story。However, her quest to discover the writer of the love letter soon got me interested again。 As far as I'm concerned Ellie's romance added nothing and could have been left out。 A very interesting book once you get past the first few chapters。 I thought at first I wasn’t going to like it but soon found I couldn't put it down。 I, too, found the introduction of Ellie a little bit of a shock in the middle of Jennifer's story。However, her quest to discover the writer of the love letter soon got me interested again。 As far as I'm concerned Ellie's romance added nothing and could have been left out。 。。。more

I usually can't get enough books by this author。 I was not as taken with the novel as usual。 I struggled at first, but toward the end of the book I found myself enjoying the book。 Relationships and deceit play a major role in the story。 A woman wakes up in the hospital and can't remember who or where she is。 The story had potential, but I struggled to read the book。 I usually can't get enough books by this author。 I was not as taken with the novel as usual。 I struggled at first, but toward the end of the book I found myself enjoying the book。 Relationships and deceit play a major role in the story。 A woman wakes up in the hospital and can't remember who or where she is。 The story had potential, but I struggled to read the book。 。。。more

This book had a slow start, but keep at it and it gets much more exciting。 The storyline created some tension for me, as I found myself rooting for the characters to have a happy ending, while simultaneously being irritated that the love stories were all built on/having to do with affairs。 Either way, excited to check out the movie now!

Not one of the author's best works but a really nice one。 Perfect for summer or when you need a light reading。 The author's unique style shows itself once more, slow at the beginning, with a very broad description of the scenary and characters and then intense and consuming by the end。 Not one of the author's best works but a really nice one。 Perfect for summer or when you need a light reading。 The author's unique style shows itself once more, slow at the beginning, with a very broad description of the scenary and characters and then intense and consuming by the end。 。。。more

El libro es mucho más hermoso que la película。En un comienzo es un poco desordenada la historia pero luego se toma un ritmo muy rápido。

I truly feel meh about this book。 It wasn't awful but it wasn't great either。 It was slow to start with all the normal justifications you give two people for having an affair while making the husband unlikable so you think "oh how sweet, she found somebody who truly loves and understands her" even though he was equally as bad as Laurence but in different ways。 I was unimpressed and unmoved by these things while finding Laurence equally as distasteful。 I don't think there was a single truly likab I truly feel meh about this book。 It wasn't awful but it wasn't great either。 It was slow to start with all the normal justifications you give two people for having an affair while making the husband unlikable so you think "oh how sweet, she found somebody who truly loves and understands her" even though he was equally as bad as Laurence but in different ways。 I was unimpressed and unmoved by these things while finding Laurence equally as distasteful。 I don't think there was a single truly likable character in this whole book with the exception of Mrs。 Cordoza, Rory, and at times Jennifer (when you looked past the fact that she was cheating on her husband and would have gone through with leaving him if she'd never gotten into that car accident)。 I wanted to like this book more than I did but I just couldn't。 Even though I eventually got into the swing of reading it and was able to look past the slowness of some parts and the yuckier parts。 "Letters to Juliet" is far more superior。 If you want something with lost letters and star-crossed lovers, I'd recommend that movie before I'd ever recommended this book to anybody。 At least there's a duty and honor in it from all the characters, including the main character with the crummy fiance。 The only reason I'm rating this two stars is because a lot of the plot twists were actually good。 But I've decided to save myself another headache and not read anything else JoJo Moyes has ever published。 。。。more
